I first received a Diploma in Counselling Skills in 1985 under Dr Windy Dryden, a REBT therapist. A little later I achieved a B Phil in Integrative Counselling Theory and Practice in 1995 at West Hill College under Bill O'Connor, a solution-focused therapist, and Janet Bellamy, a psychodynamic practitioner.
Many years have been spent in youth work, both in running youth clubs and finally in the setting of a modern Academy. I am a counselling supervisor and I have given frequent seminars and have lectured widely, publishing books and papers in peer-reviewed academic journals. My five published works are on counselling-related topics, and include Brief Counselling in Schools (third edition), The Bullies, and Spirituality in Counselling and Psychotherapy.
Apart from a career in secondary school teaching and counselling, I have delivered counselling in GP surgeries and in private practice.
I am available to deliver lectures, workshops, CPD training and mini-courses in all aspects of brief counselling for adolescents and young people, issues of teenage development and general counselling theory. I am also qualified to deliver courses and workshops on spirituality and spiritual and religious themes.
